“Probably late C18 or early C19, but undatable. Hollowed out of rock in side of disused quarry, approached by very small unmarked entrance.”
Rabbit hole. Right.
Clearly this is a hobbit temple.
They enter a archeological site which they apparently consider sacred themselves- and scrawl things on the walls. Sigh
Thanks, Obama!
Shocking that the candles would still be lit after all those years. I would expect that a draft would have come along in the ensuing centuries to extinguish at least some of them.
I first saw Stonehenge when I was six, then again 35 years later. It actually did look a lot smaller than I had remembered.
Have you calculated the date when it will disappear entirely?
In other news,
The Stonehenge appears to be a cell, an ancient eukaryotic cell that did not complete all of its cell interior organelle structural formation. Before its completion, the structural formation seems to have suffered a premature cell death Apoptosis / Necrosis. The Stonehenge structure appears to be a nearly completed ancient eukaryotic cell with nearly all of its organelles in their correct places Figure 4 (included as supplementary data). Most of the organelles are present and accounted for, but not within the defined boundaries of a healthy cells’ interior membrane structure. The mitochondria appears as the 2 circular disk within The Stonehenge image. Mitochondria is always circular in shape within eukaryotic cells. The Golgi Apparatus does not appear to have succeeded in its journey through the cis side of the Nucleus attempting to attach to the Endomembrane system of The Stonehenge structure.
Nah.Little people go in, little people go out. No one knows how.
Doesn’t Umberto Eco say (in Il Pendolo di Foucault) that madness begins with the Templars?
Obligatory umb…elico.
Only because the evidence for the madness has been covered up, thus confirming it.
Years ago an Indian colleague visited this country for the first time, and as the route home from Heathrow leads past Stonehenge we went to have a look at it (this in the days before English Heritage decided to try and prevent you doing that except for money).
He looked at it and asked when it was built, and I said “Around 2500BC”
“Ah,” he said, “small and recent.”
Actually it is known in considerable detail who the builders of Stonehenge were, following excavations at Durrington. No we don’t know what it was for, but interestingly (to me anyway) it seems to have been built by a tribe of monument specialists (Monuments R Us?) who lived in the area during the construction and then disappeared. They were a distinct population from the Beaker People who lived in this part of the world at that time. Later, of course, immigrants from the Caucasus brought modern technology (i.e. iron) and there were big cultural changes.
And today the descendants of the Beaker People have voted to leave the EU so those monument-building immigrants and Eastern Europeans will go back home…plus ca change.
Neolithic Crop Circle Makers?
No, that’s just the Royal Signals (and others) playing games with a leaf blower, string, and wooden paddles with foot straps. Crop circles are not mysterious if you realise how much geometry can be done with very simple tools, how boring Wiltshire is, and the ingenuity of soldiers and agricultural students.
Wasn’t that the execution of Louis 16th?
Templars were space aliens?!?
It all makes sense now!
