After all, new world slavery and imperialism ONLY resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of people, but they weren’t Europeans, so not like it’s something to get REALLY upset about… I mean the value of the lives lost due to racism is really all about opinions, after all… I mean CLAPTON could play GUITAR… a REAL value in the world, after all… /s
The clue is in the highlighted parts. The Cold War required high levels of troops in readiness positions all over the world, especially in its early phase. Or at least people thought at the time that that was what was needed.
