Fun fact: Allan Kardec is buried in Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, and there are signs posted near his tomb telling people not to hold séances there. Apparently he still has fans who show up in groups and try to conduct spiritualist activities and magical ceremonies, and the cemetery administrators are Not Having It.
Mind you, they have a lot to contend with. The Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison fans are also trouble. And then there’s the tomb of journalist Victor Noir, killed in a duel. His tomb is topped by a bronze statue of Noir as he fell, lying on his back with his hat beside him. The sculptor gave him a rather generous “bulge” (Noir reportedly was something of a playboy) and superstition has it that women who want to conceive can improve their chances by rubbing themself against the statue. Most of the statue is covered with a green patina, but Noir’s lips and crotch are polished to an almost mirror finish …

Oh that’s a really fun fact about Victor Noir in Pere Lachaise… I used to guide tours of American university students there and didn’t know that one.
Heloise and Abalard is another great tomb there where lovers still leave notes.
(I’d follow the tour with an absinthe tasting at this wicked metal bar, La Cantada, nearby.
