Racists angry at "cuckold culture"

This whole thing makes my brain hurt. When this started popping up a while back I did a cursory investigation and found the entire thing is beyond moronic. The producer they cite is loosely connected to the show, has producer credits on multiple other kids shows. And the “relationship” they cite as the main issue doesn’t exist. I haven’t watched the shows’ episodes but the descriptions on something like IMDB have enough information to poke thousands of holes in the claims.

I see this foofaraw and I wonder why it’s inconceivable that there’s a third path: yes, the creator inserted easter eggs related to the cuck scene into the show–and that’s totally OK! I dunno if Butler is into the cuck scene at all, but if he is, then it’s conceivable that he’d slip cuckold themes and easter eggs into other projects. If it seems a tad gauche to insert them into a show for kids, maybe so, but there’s certainly a long tradition of cheeky animators and puppeteers slipping dirty stuff into kids’ shows.

'Cos I can totally see where these assholes are reading into this show. The "Bull"dogs, the keys, the weak white kid, they’re tropes from the cuck scene that are pretty easy to see if you’re inclined to understand them. They’re also easy to slip in with a degree of innocence to the charge of corrupting youth, 'cos you’d have to be versed in the cuck scene to suss 'em out.

Again, I dunno if he’s into the cuck/kink scenes in real life, but it doesn’t seem like the pure crazy talk y’all’re taking it as. 'Cos I know that if a cat was into/made a movie about the straightedge scene, and then his next show had characters named Ian and Ray, and they hung out at a coffee shop named Wake Up and Live!, well, it’d be reasonable to think that there’s some homage there, eh?

I dunno. I guess I just wish there was a voice in all of this saying, “OK, sure, maybe he’s kinky and he might have put some kinky nods in the show. Who gives a fuck?” Declaiming it so hard sends a signal that there really is something wrong with cucking or kink, and that ain’t the vibe we’re aiming for, is it?

(Also, the cuck scene is not so much predicated on racism as it plays with ideas of race and taboo. Folks on the kinky side of life have gotta chase taboos where they can be found, as our increasingly permissive culture (yay!) renders things that were unspeakably dirty twenty years ago acceptable and even mundane today (boo!). Maybe someday we’ll get to a place where we’re all equal and stereotypes are seen as the lazy shorthand that they are, but until then, “white wife fucked by three big black guys” holds a pretty strong sexual charge, and the cuck scene is gonna stay jacked into it.)

That’s the thing about the outrage - if the kids actually got these references, it would suggest that they already knew about cuckold porn and its tropes. And further, that the series was not going to tell them anything about it they didn’t already know about it. It’s foolish to assert that a writer can’t create work for different audiences. But those who fancy themselves “conservative” seem to get hung up on identifying with media, which just poor critique/rhetoric.

“I read this because I am the kind of person who likes what this kind of person writes! And that’s why you won’t catch me even trying to read this other stuff that we can all trust is no good.”

So the idea that a person can, for instance, write or read and appreciate something they don’t personally agree with might be foreign to them. It’s not much of a leap from here to suppose that they might not accept that a person can write distinct work targeted for either “adults” or “children”. Although I suspect that this depends largely of how they interpret the ideology of such a person. If it was some blowhard pundit they liked, it might be fine.

I’m into a particular fetish that has many tropes that I see in kids’ media all the time. In the communities for that particular fetish it’s pretty well understood that none of these tropes in media are for us, or are implanted by fellow fetishists. It’s just that there’s wide crossover, and the fetish we’re into offers too much power-play for it to be avoided in mainstream media.

Which of course means tons of kids’ media ends up photo-manipped, captioned, and riffed on in our image boards etc.

I’m sure if my particular fetish were known of as widely as cuckolding, then people would get outraged by a lot of innocent media that already exists. I’m just sorta fortunate I don’t have to bite my tongue as people rampage about it.
