I think you have gene drive in mind. By all accounts that is suspected to work on practically anything that reproduces sexually and doesn’t do something exotic enough with it’s genome to make hash of your tilt mechanism before it has had time to propagate. It is slower in organisms with longer generations; but it’s that elegant versatility that makes people a trifle jumpy about the idea of using it in the wild.

All the disquiet of germline manipulation; but with much better odds that your modification will spread even in the face of fitness reduction!

I get petrified pizza crusts and filthy old french fries in my rainwater catch-buckets. The fact that a crow touched them doesn’t creep me out anywhere near as much as the human teethmarks! Bleggghhh!
