Republican candidate for California governor wonders why slave owners shouldn't get reparations for their lost property

Still carrying more IQ points than Gohmert, Brooks, Kennedy, and Johnson, combined.

Once again read through my ‘Official Voter Information Guide’ for the election. Still a disaster of alternative choices. Creepy-crawlies have left the woodwork empty and have ended up on the ballot. The entire country should be concerned with the election results.

I took a photo of the ballot, it was so batshit.

This is a training exercise for the Nazi right wingers. Soon to come to another state. If California falls to this fuckery, watch it proliferate quickly throughout the USA.

Chin up; only one recall election has ever succeeded in CA:

Gray Davis, remember that asshole?

Because they were never “your property”, they were people oppressed by your crime against humanity.

To use a republican logic, if we compensate people for taking slaves, we’ll just encourage lazy slave holders to commit crimes against humanity in order to make easy money when they later release people from inhumane bondage.

That can only happen if all the other states spontaneously adopt the California state constitution as their own. Which is probably more unlikely than Boltzmann’s Brain.

That sounds like just the District of Columbia, and just Union loyalists.

Still a big step up from his predecessor Pete Wilson. That fascist prick is still defending Proposition 187, the law that tried to turn public school teachers into racial-profiling snitches for ICE before it was voided by the courts.

There’s this…

… encouraging, but no one should be complacent; who knows what fuckery the GOP and the rabid-Right would get up to?

(Mailed my vote in weeks ago. Had a good night’s sleep.)

Batshit is right. This is one of the more “mainstream” GOP candidates on the ballot and he couldn’t even be bothered to find a clean T-shirt or comb his hair for the picture accompanying his candidate statement.

Except for Maryland, they were all at war with the Union, so too bad for them! (Next they’ll want compensation for damages caused by the March to the Sea!)

I remember this asswipe of a human from his insane talk show years ago. It’s amazing that he’s actually managed to get worse in the intervening two decades or so.

Well, when it’s either her or a Republican, there’s no choice, and the party establishment has been pretty good about preventing primary challenges. 2018 was a rare exception, but apparently there was a lot of unwillingness to get rid of her when she was on the Judiciary committee and theoretically protecting the Mueller investigation. In terms of what’s come out about what happened with her on the committee, that was a dangerous mistake.

This is not a case of “she’s old, she should retire” - she’s medically incapable of doing the job because of serious cognitive issues in recent years. She’s been fucking up in quite serious - and visible - ways. (E.g. the Barrett confirmation)

Well, yeah, and she’s probably aware of what’s going on more often (in that she is at least sometimes aware), but we’re fighting for our democracy and need all hands at the wheel. She seriously dropped the ball during the Trump administration. Plus, being “smarter than Republicans” is such a low bar these days…

That’s like a bank robber saying, “OK, I’ve released the hostages. Now compensate me.”

This goes right along with mainstream Republican taking points like “slaves were lucky to be brought to America because Africa sucks” and “they were better off during slavery because they were taken care of by whites”, “just think of all the useful trades that the enslaved were taught”, and more. He’s not an outlier, he is the heart of the GOP.

Because that actuarial table is averaged over a population, but the likelihood of any senator dying is massively impacted by the fact that they get top tier health care that spares absolutely no expense and is authorized to use any experimental treatment available.

Senator healthcare is very different from american healthcare.
