I remember those Saturday Night Live performances. At the time, I swore he was Don Novello (aka Father Guido Sarducci) doing another character.

I met my wife one night skipping out on his show in rural illinois. I had looked forward to it for a year.

He was the soundtrack of my sun dappled youth, growing up sailing boats in the Barnegat Bay. The smell of charred meats, a cream soda, and my old man playing Leon Redbone.
