Needs more pouches.
Ridiculous chest, no butt. I think I prefer Cap to look like Chris Evans.
If Tom of Finland drew comics
He stuffed a frozen turkey in his suit.
You know, for shoplifting purposes.
I can only hope whomever gets the drawing will burn it
Nah, it cycles around to the “so bad it’s good” category.
Man, I did love Liefeld in HS. Even though I could recognize at that age his faults. Still he has a unique style.
wouhwouhwouh, stop right there! to compare tomOfFinland with the notourisly bad and sloppy “artwork” of liefeld, is just…wrong! so, so wrong.
Awful art aside, there’s a little part of my brain that comes back to this representation and thinks “if a human being were subjected to superhero serum treatments, might it not warp their bodies beyond what we consider human?” I don’t think Liefeld was thinking about it that deeply but there’s a poignant story to be told about a hero who loves their country so much that they warp their body into that monstrosity (instead of just becoming super hot) to fight against fascism.
In addition to the perspective just being nonsense, it makes Cap’s muscles looks small like they’re stretched thin over a balloon.
That’s America’s ass
With Tom of Finland I never looked at any of his characters and wondered if the artist had never seen a human in person. I know some really like Liefeld’s art, but I am very firmly in the WTF camp.
Uh, yeah, I chose that gif on purpose, Ant Man.
Liefeld has never seen a human being’s foot, as evidenced by his intense aversion to drawing them
Maybe he just has whatever the polar opposite of a foot fetish is.
you could almost say he stands on kriegsfuß with feet.
(I know its a shitty joke, but couldnt help it…)
Loved the Deadpool movie mocking that.
And that Cap picture always makes me annoyed. Its just so bad, and that was in a time when a lot of artists were also doing weird art. One artist was copying porn stars, often in their, er, moment of extreme excitement, and using it as “battle scenes” for female superheros and whatnot.
One nice thing about Liefeld is that he seems to have a healthy capacity for self-mockery. He personally encouraged Ryan Reynolds to use that joke about him not being able to draw feet. Then there’s his response to the constant ribbing about his obsession with drawing pouches on characters’ uniforms:
