Roe Overturned

It’s now in the hands of the voters with a constitutional amendment that’s on the November ballot.

They only had one job to do, vote on whether there were enough signatures collected per the law to put the initiative on the ballot in November.

But noooooo the republicans on the board decided to debate the legality of the initiative, that ain’t their job so off to the state supreme court they go. It the court does what they are supposed to do, just decide if the signature requirement was met, it should still get on the ballot.

Both petitions were certified by this board in November, in other words, they already said the petitions and the wording was legally acceptable. That voting initiative (among other things) would set in stone the canvassers board’s only job is to certify things. We can thank the last guy for turning normally uneventful canvassers board meetings into public spectacles.

The same board did the same thing with a voting rights proposal, it will also end up at the state supreme court.
