Back when I sold rucksacks for a living, we had one of those rollerbag/rucksack convertibles in our range. I didn’t recommend them often.
It roughly doubles the weight of the pack, adds a fair bit of expense, and introduces a bunch of failure points. They may be useful for some people in some situations, but they always struck me as a “master of none” solution.
Personally, I just travel with my regular hiking pack. I can lug that up a mountain; wandering around a perfectly flat airport is not that big a deal.
