Um…these were not rent-a-cops. These were Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies. This was actual law enforcement who prevented Rushing from entering the event. Which arguable makes the entire thing worse, especially since one of the deputies kept saying, “We’re just doing our job. They said they don’t want you here.” When law enforcement starts essentially saying, “We’re just doing what we were told,” that’s actual fascism.

You would figure every journalist worth their salt would boycott any fascist gathering, or at the very least report it for what it is, but mantras of “the public has a right to know” and “impartial reporting” seem to be set in stone.
