If I just showed up at some McDs and said “I want to work the fryer!” I would be escorted off the premises, or given a job application. And of my friends all showed up at the drive through, insisting that I hand them bags of food, the police would soon be involved. If he had shown up and ordered food then I suspect most of crew would have refused to serve him, just like the folks at the doughnut shop when Vance “showed up”.
