The other weird thing about the stop motion Rankin/Bass Rudolph was that the actual stop motion was subcontracted out to Tadahito Mochinaga (or “Comrade Fang Ming”, as he liked to be called in Maoist circles) a Japanese animator who was also a devotee of Chairman Mao.

I can’t really comment on the biology behind this, but anyone who claims that Tromsø, Norway is “near the North Pole” plays hard and loose with facts.
