True. But the church itself is an edifice of hierarchy signified with ever sillier hats. And its authority is all based on “because I say god says so.” rather than logic or evidence.
Thanks, moorcat! That’s a good list, including phone numbers & emails for sponsors. Mostly car & gun sellers but I also saw Westin Hotels, Visiting Angels (who also advertise on NPR), Simplisafe, & YMCA of Mass…
I haven’t observed a significant opposition to any of those things among Christians. Certainly not when it comes to doing more than mouthing empty platitudes.
I wish that evil fuck would die a little faster.
The religious in general need to be reminded that the Republican solution to end abortion is nothing more than cruel legislation that is only going to affect impoverished pregnant women while eliminating any effective birth control education and childcare.
Those with means will always be able to “vacation” to where abortion is safe and legal.
Well sure, they are not leftists. They’re Democratic politicians. But they’re hell of a lot more progressive than a lot of people think, including on socialized medicine:

Hey, me too! I spent too many hours listening to this while filing (and my boss doing word jumbles surreptitiously under her desk in the same room). It was pretty noxious, although he had toned it down a bit from the 80s, I was told.
In the USA, you have the freedom to be an asshole. Here’s a guy who exercised that freedom so completely that he inspired millions of others to reach new levels of asshole-ery, and was even given a medal for it.
Rush Limbaugh is the past. Mamala is the future. Choose wisely, America. Everything is on the line.
So was that “Libel” or “Slander”? I’m guessing he has some kind of out because he has an opinion show and not a news show.
As an oral statement rather than a written one it would be “slander,” but only if it rises to the legal threshold of “defamation.”
In order to win a defamation suit, Harris would have to show that Limbaugh made the statement as a false declaration of fact (i.e., he was trying to convince his audience that Harris literally worked as a prostitute) rather than a mere insult. So basically a non-starter from a legal perspective.
A boycott of Limbaugh’s sponsors and the subsequent cancellation of his show would certainly be in order though.
A brain like Limbaugh’s never had any need of cancer of whatever sort. It’s always been putrid, apart from the brief period between his birth and whatever that terrible thing was that happened to him.
As a matter of fact, yes it is. Just finished an interesting read, “Jesus and John Wayne - How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation”, by Kristen Kobes Du Mez. I am a PK, grew up in a strict fundamentalist atmosphere, but never had a lot of contact with the evangelicals until later in life. But I never could wrap my brain around how their “family values” could translate into support for a man like Donald Trump. This book examines the evangelical movement from its roots to the present day and it put a lot of things/questions into perspective for me. When looking at the big picture, Donald Trump is EXACTLY the kind of leader they’ve always been looking for, and Rush also fits right in. These people are America’s version of the Taliban.
Yep. Being a giant sack of shit is how he stays relevant.
At least we know when he’s buried the plants will grow very nicely there.
