This is related to the international oil and gas industry finally giving permission for the SWIFT ban. They’ve decided that a petro-state run by a dangerous warmonger will no longer help their all-important bottom lines.
GET OUT OF THERE!!!
Premature anti-fascists?
One thing the two leaders have in common in those photos: neither is worried about catching COVID from their defense ministers.
Food, emergency shelter, clean water, blankets, vaccines, medicines, emotional support. Services to reconnect families.
Specific accepting and culturally competent services for those being left behind here. Nigerian students, LGBT people, ethnic minorities.
I haven’t read every single post in this topic, sorry, way too much information overload so if this has been covered…
Peace talks? In what world does Putin walk away? He doesn’t strike me as a guy who gives up especially when it shows weakness. What exactly do they talk about?
How does the world and Ukraine see this ending? Does he just say sorry and go home? If that happens do all the sanctions go away as if nothing happened? Do the sanctions stay in place hurting the world economy for years to come?
Seems like Putin needs to gain something and it does not appear he’s done that yet. I honestly don’t see how this ends well for anyone unless Putin goes away forever.
Ru.tv also disappeared from Helsinki cable.
They used to show all kinds of weird stuff like this Ukrainian music video:
Today the Red Cross collected donations of clothes, bedsheets, sleeping bags and hygiene products in several Lithuanian cities. People quickly donated 50 truckloads and they had to stop the rally early because they simply didn’t have any more transport.
Various local charities that work in Ukraine also had donation totals well into seven figures already on the first day of the invasion.
Okay- I’m happy to offer him solitude. Much involuntary solitude.
He’s going to try to get Ukraine to recognise the two BS “people’s republics” he declared on behalf of the pro-Russian separatists. Maybe a corridor to Crimea. He won’t get either.
He may try to negotiate a temporary ceasefire to buy himself some time to shore up his supply lines and get new weapons into the field. I doubt they’ll take him up on that either. He’ll whinge about that making them the aggressors but no-one will buy it.
So the war will probably grind on until his own people kill him.
What’s scary, if that is actually possible, I don’t feel like our infrastructure is secure enough to prevent someone from doing here someday. Hope I am wrong.
“Ay, we got McAfee running, we will be fine.”
They can stop people?
Going the IOC route.
