Not sure about the legality in various countries. I’m pretty sure in the US you can as long as you don’t fight against America.
Greedy and corrupt cowards behaving like greedy and corrupt cowards. Nothing new for FIFA.
Gen X Veterans spend their whole childhood expecting to fight the Russians…
Good question. I agree he seems like the person to double down on this mistake. If it gets bad enough, I wonder if he will just be disposed of by others in the government. I know he commands fear and respect, but I don’t know how loyal everyone is.
He could do the world a solid by just offing himself, but I don’t see that happening either.
Technical term is “tank got 'splodey”.
Only if it means: Russia, Fuck U /s
Silly BBC, you are not reviewing a performance in a movie. This is very real. How about we change the subhead?
“Ukraine’s president had no experience of politics when when elected in 2019, but has emerged as an convincing inspiring war leader.”
(I may need to write a letter to the editor)
It is that, but also Russia has been much less effective and organized than anyone expected. Even though what is happening is terrible, it pales next to what the expectations were. The forces moving against Ukraine so far just seem kind of ill prepared and feeble when compared to American invasions, which I think was more the expectation.
I hope that this continues to be the case and that Ukraine can continue to hold out until Russian logistics completely fail. When this started this did not seem like something that could ever happen, but now it seems possible
A very good friend of mine is a Georgian woman partially raised in Moscow. The very first time her husband visited Russia with her, he came back 100% convinced that one day the Russians would “Mussolini” Putin. Full on desecrate his body in public if he ever fell from power.
He finds it difficult to accurately describe just how much the average Russian hates and fears the guy.
That’s what’s really jumping out about those protests in Russia. If the fear end of it stops holding people back, the man is dead.
Ukrainian morale seems to remain high…
In Trump’s case, having more sympathy for Russia and an oft expressed preference for Russian interests over EU (or US) interests, he really wanted to turn NATO into a protection racket
The Russian police arrest people simply for demonstrating, so everyone who turns up has overcome their fear of arrest.
That includes everyone in this video.
I am wondering if this falls under “we were not supplied with any rations, it has been days, and we are hungry” in some ways this might be the kind of looting that you want to see, if it indicates a collapse of logistics and discipline. Hungry soldiers are not happy soldiers
Thread:
More significantly fear of prison.
What I’ve heard from multiple Russians is it’s not fear of the police or of policy changes or whatever from Putin. But specifically fear of going to Russian prison for even a few weeks that keeps people in line.
I dunno - the way things are going might be smart. Is it safer to be in a cell for the next few days? Could be a soft surrender
