I see your point, but I think what usually what happens in these instances is like Whirlpool absorbing Maytag (not sure if all, or just kitchen appliances), and slapping their name on some of Maytag’s subpar refrigerators in order to get them off the sales floor.

That’s actually a graph of the altitude of an affected washing machine.

You see that bounce at the end…that was when it landed on the pile of recalled Note 7s
