How are there 26 characters? I can remember 5 and only 3 of those were proper characters.
Maybe some of them are actually the same character but from the future?

Not to the same scale, but Tatiana Maslany springs to mind (man that show was fun until it wasn’t. I still haven’t finished it…)

I wandered off because of circumstances at the time, but fully intended to wander back.
What happened that sucked the fun out of it (if you can say without being too spoilery)? Just a tonal shift, or more?

Yeah tonal shift. It got a bit humorless and overly intricately scifi plotty and less playful and character driven when they got too high up the ladder in the conspiracy.
