I read that grace kelly took a suit case of rocks when filming in africa home
can you imagine the porters faces
It’s like a giant Aeropress!
How many fucktons or metric shittons does that add up to?
Also I’ll be very disappointed if he didn’t also pack a funicular, just because I like saying the word funicular.
Packing an elevator is a bit like bringing a portable hole.
A building without an elevator won’t have an elevator shaft, either, so you’d need to bring that, too.
We all know one could get rich by inventing portable holes. But the king already has enough money, so he ignores the chance to get rich all over again and instead just enjoys how incredibly useful it is:
- “Here are your room keys, sir. It’s room 301, that’s our Royal Suite on the the third floor.”
- “Where is the elevator?”
- “I’m sorry, our hotel is a historic building erected in 1642. You can use the stairs to your left.”
- “Never mind, I’ve brought a spare elevator of my own.”
Assuming you can find(or ‘make’) a large enough window, anyone capable of putting up scaffolding can tack an elevator shaft onto a building/wall/etc. for temporary purposes.
Expensive? Quite probably. Within the budget of someone who would pack two elevators when travelling? Also quite probably. And definitely way cheaper than trying to add an internal elevator shaft to a building not already provided with one.
Still doesn’t explain why you wouldn’t just choose a building with a preexisting elevator; but some mysteries remain for the ages.
Pft - amateur. When Mansa Musa made his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324 he took 60,000 people, including 12,000 slaves who each carried 4lb of gold, and 80 camels each weighed down with up to 300lb of gold (number vary on this so how much gold isn’t known exactly.) What is known is that he spent so much and gave so much away that he caused inflation along his route and in the Mediterranean.
Video or it didn’t happen. Oh, wait.
That isn’t him. He was from Mali in west Africa. It was quit the pilgrimage. Built a ton of mosques on the way.
Here he is in Crusader Kings 2
I assume the 1 in stewardship is there because of the inflation he caused.
