Of course, but you get no credit for noticing that Trump is stupid and despicable. Little children can tell you that. The thing that makes McConnell stand out is that he normally lies about it, because he is craven and venal to an extent that would kill a normal human to even contemplate. There’s nothing right about a hypocrite who only admits reality when he knows it doesn’t matter. May he find his way to the ashtray of history all the sooner.

To be fair, I’m sure he’s said things like this all along. Also to be fair, he’s still not saying it publicly, which is the only part that counts. He doesn’t even get credit for being “too little, too late.” He’s still just a tool.

No disagreement there. McConnell and the GOP could have taken a step towards redemption by turning against Trump and throwing him and his cult to the mercy of the courts, after the Capitol invasion. But they didn’t, and I think that, more than anything else, will damn them in the eyes of history.

Never thought the opportunity for the GOP to re-earn the title of the “Party of Fiscal Responsibility” could come about at their own peril/extinction. (I didn’t see that plot twist.)
At chump’s second impeachment McConnell said that he wasn’t voting to convict because he was no longer president and it didn’t matter if he was impeached. If GOD FORBID he is reelected, does the open the issue back up? I wonder if even the thought of it makes McConnell freeze and need rebooting.
