Best part of this article is how the WaPo twists itself into knots to avoid calling Tuberville a liar.

based on our research, that claim is dubious.

then

We are not questioning his heroism or service.
So we will not be issuing a Pinocchio rating but instead will highlight what elements of the senator’s story raise questions or are inaccurate — and which ones appear to be correct.

I get that family stories get inflated and conflated. But the guy is lying. And even if he thought he was telling the truth, he’s been given ample evidence to recant, and he continues to lie.

The individual claims:

Joined the military at 16
This is false. He lied.

Tank commander
This is dubious. He lied.

Participated in D-Day
This is possible.

Me: (but no evidence that it’s true)

Purple Heart
This is true.

One true statement so far. And, honestly, a big deal. He should be thanked and lauded for this.

Five Bronze Stars
This is false. He lied.

He received one Bronze Service Star. Which is an award for being there. Also important, also laudable, also should be thanked and celebrated.

Drove a tank in Paris when U.S. troops liberated the city
This is not possible. He lied.

Liar.

He and George Santos developed the A-bomb, and also cured cancer while tearing down the Berlin wall.

WaPo is still fact-checking, but is hesitant to label Tuberville a liar.

This moron also thinks we fought WWII to free Europe from the grip of socialism and communism, so … is anyone surprised by this?

I hear Tommy Tuberville’s dad killed Hitler, but the liberals won’t let anyone know that.

If his Mom was in Germany, this could be true.

Oh, the left wing nazis…

I strongly suggest trying singing the International Socialist anthem in the middle of a skinhead demonstration. You know, just to prove his point of view.

I’m not sure why he would be touting his father’s service in the Schutzstaffel.

Considering who makes up Tuberville’s voter base, you’d think the liberals would want people to know that in order to damage his support.

Normally, I would think that was the point he was going for, but he also included the communists in his statement, which is just so stupid since the Soviets were our allies in that war. Most of the time, I share the opinion that these right wingers who say these stupid things know that what they’re saying isn’t true, but Tuberville does seem to be genuinely pretty short in the brains department.

He is legendarily stupid 'round these parts. He was known to be so before the election, and nobody in Alabama was surprised when, after the election, he began demonstrating it publicly.

Hitler drew first. They were poker buddies, and things got a little heated during a game. Tuberville had no choice. He regretted it the rest of his life.

Senator Tuberville is 68 years old

His father has been dead for some time now

We’re long past the “thank you for your service” phase of World War II
