Shepard Smith quit Fox News right after Trump AG Bill Barr met with Rupert Murdoch

For years I’ve wondered how/why Shep Smith keeps his job at Fox. HIs job requires him to occasionally introduce actual facts to the Fox audience.

If we find Chris Wallace face down in a ditch by the side of the road, that’s going to look mighty suspicious.

If he’s not saying why he left i would wonder if it’s because of an NDA as a prerequisite of them releasing him from his contract.

The regime must be worried about impeachment if it’s leaning on its propaganda outlet to carry out a purge of unreliable elements. For a group so opposed to socialism in any form, they certainly borrow a lot from Stalin.

I wonder if he’ll have the courage to actually say, explicitly, without weasel generalities, why he’s leaving.

I thought he considered himself a moderate centrist?

I always kinda liked Shep, wasn’t sure why. Now I know why.

It’s all gaslighting and projection. From the top down.

One of the standard theories is that he was kept as a fig-leaf so that Fox could keep spewing its “fair and balanced” drivel.

Alternative headline, he quit on National Coming Out Day

I assumed it was so Fox could claim to not be biased in their reporting.

This is like a merry-go-round that keeps spinning faster and faster: people are flying off left and right and it’s getting more chaotic… yet we are still along for the ride. Waiting for this nightmare to end. I will dance in the street when that day comes.

Or if he is legally allowed. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t have to sign an enormous NDA before they escorted him out.

From time to time, I check foxnews.com out of curiosity to see what the narrative is there. It’s very telling that there is NO mention of the recent arrests or Rudy. Zero, zip, nada. Unless you do a search, which brings up a couple very brief video clips.

Just wondering if that silence has anything to do with his departure.

Edit: I also like to think I’m hacking the system by clicking on anything anti-Trump related on fox news. Add another tick to page counts of interest in the subject.

If it was Fox wanting to dump him, wouldn’t he demand a severance payment to break the contract?

This is the correct scoop.

I can see the Fox News execs using that as another potential cudgel to convince him to resign. As far as I know he’s been open in non-Fox outlets about his sexual orientation for years, but that information may not have gotten through to the old bigots in the Fox News audience.

I’m sure that was part of the deal. Fox is infamous for buying the silence of staff who leave on less than voluntary terms.

He wouldn’t have to demand it because it’d be clearly spelled out in the contract usually. Him asking to be released and not saying anything makes me think he’s signed an NDA, which coincidentally people generally believe is a magical spell that shuts people up but it’s really isn’t if there’s genuine law breaking happening. People just rarely want to go through the legal trouble

There’s pushback to this narrative online btw

That would be novel. But is he talking about facts, or “facts”?
