The other trick with a lot of these novelty cakes is rice crispy treat slabs. It’s lighter weight and more structurally sound than cake, while still edible. Again though, calling it “cake” is pretty weak sauce, so to speak. Back in the land before streaming, I got sucked into Cake Boss on cable for a while. I got frustrated and quit when everything he made turned out to be mostly fondant, rice crispy slabs, and various stainless steel hardware inside. More like “Cake” Boss, amiright? Hurr hurr. I’ll see myself out.
