Lalo Schifrin was an awesome composer.
I had a thing for Baretta in general, but one reason was that theme song. It was so obviously a REAL song, not some ditty created to played while the credits rolled.
And didnât the movies change it from 5/4 to a tin-eared common time?

Iâd say Sanford & Son was a tie with Barney Miller for funkiness, but then Barney Miller would win simply because they recorded multiple different takes and used them all over the course of the showâs run.
[edit/additional thought: when I listen to this theme song, I really imagine the musicians enjoying themselves in the studio, it sure sounds like they are just getting off on that groove.]
