Some folks call green peppers "mangoes" for a centuries-old reason

I’d never heard of calling them mangoes. Fascinating. This whole comment section of different names for common food items seems like it ought to be straight out of Grandpa Simpson’s playbook.

Here green peppers are called “piman” but yellow or red ones are paprika.

Reads that swedes and turnips are highly dangerous, clicks on link hoping for bizarre tales of turnip poisoning or people ordering swedes at the online grocers and getting a shipload of rampaging Vikings instead.

Hmm. People cut themselves trying to cut very hard vegetables.
