At least in Brazil, people outside this religion think that evangelicals are a monolithic group. Although a large part of them have happily embraced the reactionary wave of Bolsonarism, not all of them share the poorly elaborated ideals of tropical conservatives. Unfortunately, many politicians want to shepherd the faithful of the most vitriolic and hydrophobic pastors, thinking that this will gain points among the reactionaries. It’s a mistake on their part.
