Coca Cola is spiced surely? Clove and cardamom. I think clove cordial is probably its strongest constituent flavour.

I also will drink the zero. I always assumed though that it was the diet stuff but marketed at men. Never checked out.

What. The. Actual. Fuck. is going through their minds?? Raspbery is a berry. It is not and never has been a spice. Call it Raspberry Coke and maybe you get somewhere. “Spiced” should be ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, chilis, something that is an actual, you know, spice!

and many of those are in coke already! Cinnamon is surely as well as clove.

Lawful evil.

Shorter run than New Coke…

Although they had to reintroduce “classic” coke after 3 months… it was a wild 3 months.

“spiced cola” already exists:

(It’s even a product of the Coca Cola Company!)

I tried a Spiced Zero. I would have thought they’d try to market it in the wintertime, as it was essentially pumpkin spice Coke. I wasn’t too keen on it; my taste for soda is also diminishing rapidly.

Ayurvedically hot too if I’m not mistaken! Coke is. Not me.

Most of these contain nutmeg, cinnamon, and coriander. Not a hint of clove among them.

Raspberries are aggregate fruits rather than berries. Pumpkins are berries, so maybe they’ll do a Pumpkin Spice Coke?

I tried it. One sip. Spit it out. Awful.

Interestingly enough, Diet Coke and Coke Zero have different flavour profiles. Diet coke was based on the sweeter formula that got sold as “New Coke” (Or rather, the other way round. New Coke was supposed to be a full-sugar version of the sweeter profile of Diet, in order to take on the sweeter Pepsi), back in the 80s, while Zero is an attempt a a sugar-free version of “classic” Coke.

Botanically correct, culinarily, does it matter? Pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers and chilis are all berries botanically. Raspberries, blackberries and strawberries are not. But if I make a berry compote, I won’t be using tomatoes.

There is some English comedian who has a line “knowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit, wisdom is leaving it out of the fruit salad”.

Or something like that. Courgette maybe!

It must be time for this again:

… and here’s a bonus:

I’d maybe try “raspberry coke”. I assumed “spiced” coke would have some sort of "hot’ spice in it. And that I would not try.

Banana coke anyone?

Reminds me… Dr. Pepper from the 1960s says “hold my beer… er… soda”…

“Pitched as a permanent new beverage”? I thought it was just the latest in a long line of temporary experiments. Remember “Coca-Cola Life” with Stevia?
