Not sure the economics make sense if that’s your goal. They pretty much cleared out the whole granary on Deep Space Station K7.

While it is always easy to make fun of the redshirts…lets also not forget that Engineering was also a red-shirt division and they kicked ass.

If they can eat grass, or other normally incredible biomass, it could work.
OTOH, modifying gut flora so we could digest cellulose would also help. I think there is some military research in this. Then people could eat grass without the intermediaries.

Would be kind of cool, though. Thinkgeek’s even made a mockup-- though they might just direct you to a “April Fool” page if you specify “Engineering/Red”. when you order one.
