This is lovely, and much better than the gigantic sculpture of a middle finger that Georgia’s Confederate revanchists also deserve.

minor correction: John Lewis was a US Representative, not a senator.

Also, Basil Watson is amazing. I’ve had the pleasure of hosting him in a local city art gallery.

OK, so, how about we keep the Confederate statues where they are, but remove the top two-fifths of each statue. Call it a Three-Fifths Compromise.

My proposal was to hammer all the old Confederate monuments into a giant chair to replace the one at the Lincoln Memorial so Abe could sit atop the symbols of his fallen enemies like the King of Westeros.
