Even if by some odd sequence of events people like Bannon and his minions manage to destabilize the current federal government, it seems pretty unlikely that whatever replaces it will resemble the nineteenth-century white-supremacist retro-confederacy that they yearn for
This has been Steve Bannon’s rallying cry since he came into the limelight by supporting Trump in 2016. Tear down America! I think he’s working for the Chinese this time.
Bannon:
"MAGA is a direct threat to the American state." They didn't say the country, they didn't say America as a nation, they didn't say the American people. The American state.
Translation: “They didnt use the exact phrasing that I specify as orthodox, so they are the enemy.” (Except, he changes the orthodox phrasing on-the-fly to always fix it so the enemy remains the enemy.) If Vox had said “American people” instead of “American state”, you can bet he objects to that as well (perhaps calling it “Communistic”? Who knows?)
Reminiscent of the sovereign citizens who, when they see gold fringe on an American flag in a courtroom, can declare that courtroom extralegal and without any judicial power.
Or Sneetches.
I honestly don’t trust Steve Bannon’s definitions. They are inherently politically malleable, and Bannon spends a great deal of time obsessing over such things.
you and me both.
it is the shenanigans of these fascists - and we seem to be overrun with fascists atm - that make the cheap gin flow here.
cold martinis in a hot war of rhetoric that is threatening to boil over into realspace keep a cool head.
