There’s certainly a lot you can criticize about their efforts, the data coming out of China and their government in general but transmission there does seem to be leveling off.

Oh, I do not deny they got ruthless once they realised they needed to, but before they realised it they tried to hide it, and even now they are silencing people for telling the truth. I just wish there was an equivalent ‘democratic’ ruthlessness but with more openness. I am in no doubt it is possible, and looking at what much of Europe has done in the past couple of days demonstrates it.

If we are still asking about who is panicking … I had a panic moment today that is still sort of lingering and making me antsy and not-trusting the delivery people because P-P-P-P-P-P-P-PANIC.
Have you considered that the Morlocks in the story may actually be the ultra-wealthy? Maybe the time traveler got it wrong. The Eloi are clothed and fed by the Morlocks while they are kept passive and uneducated, and in return, the Morlocks consume the Eloi as if they were feedstock instead of human beings. Sounds like a metaphorical description of our modern global economy to me. Just a thought.

Hey man I work a job where I go to 20-30 different highly trafficked public places a day, handle items that have passed through dozens of hands before they get to me, shaking hands with randos is a part of the job, and the only bathrooms I have access to are public ones. Some of those stops are in drug stores, where sick people be. Most take place in restaurants, an industry where workers are for the most part required to work while sick and no one has health coverage anyway.
I do all of this in in a place with a growing outbreak. The first case in my county was at a brewery, I frequently have contact with their employees. That was Monday, now we’ve got like 19! Just like the cool kids!
My whole week is one big panic moment.
And I’m not panicking. I’m fine. I swear. FINE.
OH and my boss called a division wide sales meeting for tomorrow morning, so 30 people from across the NY Metro area. Doing this same shit daily, are going to be in a small room together for 4 hours before getting back on the road.
It’s cool though. I’m cool.

Yet he posted the podcast of this perfectly reasonable official. He acknowledged as true what Osterholm said without argument. He had even made arrangements weeks earlier to bring this voice of reason to a large audience, and was repeatedly thanked for it by Michael Osterholm.
Yeah, what a nutter.
I’m good with not eating them if the alternative is containing them for our amusement.

This is part and parcel of what Rogan does. He doesn’t apply pressure to people or challenge them. He just acknowledges and and let’s them talk. Everything is “great”, everything is “interesting”, he never thought of it that way. With reasonable folk he’ll do shit like ask about vitamin shots and saunas repeatedly. Their presence in such a reasonable discussion, makes them seem valid by association.
And said reasonable discussion will sit in a context of regular appearances by Alex Jones, alt-med, and alt-right figures. What they say will be “great” and “interesting”, and Rogan will have never thought of it that way. He’ll even acknowledge what they say is true. He’ll nod, acknowledge, validate. Never challenge.
He’ll promote bringing those voices of reason on for weeks also, and repeatedly thank them and be thanked by them.
That’s how his trick works. He washes the conspiracy and virulent politics by dint of a very non-confrontational approach where everything is valid. And occasionally inviting non-assholes on to burnish his own validity. It’s Glen Beck’s just asking questions with a dash of “all sides” and a bong hit.

Meanwhile, I’m tracking a cross-country Gulfstream flight that started out at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, and it seems to be headed for either Las Vegas or Los Angeles.
Funny how when you look up the tail numbers of these birds, they tend to be owned by shell companies or bank trusts.
