“It really whips the llama’s ass.”
Here are the two sounds/visuals for comparison.

I have never heard the Netflix sound (and I’m not sure, but I think I might be a bit proud of that).
They didn’t steal from Law and Order SVU?
I hate it and it’s loud and jarring “path-thum!” every time I start a movie or show.
I hate it too but not as much as I hate the HBO horrendously loud blast of static thing.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s pointlessly jarring.
HBO had the perfect intro in 1983. It’s all been downhill from there.

There’s even a green documentary on how they made it:
And apparently they did some April Fool’s day versions:
I binged Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, and the volume level of the leading Nickelodeon spot pissed me off every damn time. TV manufacturers really need to start putting optional audio compressors in their settings.
Was there a Law & Order series set in the motor-pool, called, “Law & Order: SUV”?
Why did I just have flashback to Miami Vice? I can totally see Don Johnson at the wheel.
UK TV station idents in earlier days were much more the traditional brass fanfares - and all the better for it! And nobody needed to wonder about how they were ‘born’.
