I hate it and it’s loud and jarring “path-thum!” every time I start a movie or show.

I binged Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, and the volume level of the leading Nickelodeon spot pissed me off every damn time. TV manufacturers really need to start putting optional audio compressors in their settings.

UK TV station idents in earlier days were much more the traditional brass fanfares - and all the better for it! And nobody needed to wonder about how they were ‘born’.

The wibbly-wobbly HTV ident tune was fantastic - hard to believe that it was composed in the mid 1960s.
And for people of a certain age it meant one thing - Robin of Sherwood.
