Exactly. Per capita by profession, more farmers, groundskeepers, roofers, professional fishermen/women, roofers, construction managers, truckers, etc. die on the job than cops. The Mythos is strongly ingrained, and it’s just plain wrong.

In context, this made me wonder about the origin of that phrase. Thought it’d be funny if it was actually related to cops getting out of things. It’s not But I’m going to think of it that way from now on.

I don’t get why, if a staff of nurses and NAC’s dealing with quite literally the same people the cops routinely run into, just in an in patient psych setting, can do this, why the cops can’t as well.

Because their training is primarily “adversarial” and designed to mete out punishment?
