Tank vs Car

How steep?

In other words: Is there a list of terminal velocities of tanks?

Geez, that intersection needs a stop sign.

So there was really no speed limit?!?!

FWIW, M1-A1 are limited to 45, but derestricted can top 60mph.
Apparently that’s what a 1500hp/4000ft/lb of turbine power can do for you.

(That would yield, for those inclined to know, 6,447,235 kg-m/s)

As far as I am aware, the M1 uses a jet turbine engine. 1500HP is within the envelope for large diesel piston engines, so what’s the benefit of the spinner?

You have to startle it by placing a cucumber behind it.

True, it currently uses a Turbine engine- it allowed the power outputs required (and those were beyond abilities of piston diesel at the time).
Since, there’s a program (I gather) to allow at turbine engine to be replaced by a drop-in diesel piston engine, which lowers the cost per mile by something like 14%. Increases range, less noise, etc etc etc.

The tank turns instantly on the spot and changes direction, you do not want to be anywhere near when that happens as it is not as predictable as a car or truck turning. Tanks did not have good all-round vision (and the indicators were faired in to avoid damage, so you could barely see them).

The deer gets cut off at the knee and ends up inside the passenger compartment, thrashing about (with antlers).

I was 15 and restricted to a 50cc motorcycle. There was a speed limit.

Actually only a few autobahns have no speed limits.

The big advantage of switching to a conventional diesel isn’t in the mileage, but in how much fuel is burned idling (which tanks spend most of their time doing). Turbines are exceptionally bad at idling. The exhaust is also much easier to deal with and doesn’t make the tank stand out on IR from quite so many miles away.

The downside is that they’ll weigh a lot more for equivalent HP and become more picky about their fuel. They also have more moving parts and you need a beefier cooling system since not so much of the heat is left contained in the exhaust.

I wanna see the footage from the other camera.

Full disclosure: I am from Germany  Technically, there are still enough autobahns without speed limit, but because most of them are always jammed, you can’t always make use of it.

Actually I belong to the now majority that is in favor of a speed limit even on the autobahn. But sooner the US will get reasonable gun laws before some idiots here will lose the freedom to endanger every other motorist as they please. Mercedes, BMW and VW/Porsche/Audi will see to that…

Ah, “Der 7. Sinn” and Egon Hoegen are dearly missed. Just imagine a segment about e-scooters…
