I just learned that Terry Davis, of TempleOS, has died.
It’s not like it was ever a happy story; but I find something about the death of someone who gave(or perhaps lost) so much in the pursuit of such a singular, solitary, vision particularly affecting.
I don’t know what to say about it. Like you said, it’s affecting. I just found out from you. I remember seeing an out of context video of him describing the operating system and thinking it was just a joke, but as the video went on, I realized that this was completely serious and I was looking at someone describe a real operating system they built. I remember suddenly feeling a weird combination of sad and impressed. I kinda feel the same way now.
