“Do nothing youths” makes me ask if Terry Gilliam things #metoo is useless and silly and everyone who came of age later than 1970 is a do-nothing youth, what has Terry Gilliam done concretely to make the world a better place? Surrealistic magic realist movies don’t count.
It wasn’t that long ago that getting an arrest for domestic violence or rape was nearly impossible (1970s). It wasn’t that long ago that statutory rape was never prosecuted (1980s). It wasn’t that long ago that nothing was done about sexual harassment at work (1990s). These things changed by conversation, marches, by people saying enough was enough. You only think it’s silly if you think those actions aren’t too bad and don’t really hurt anyone and don’t think they need to change.
