Texas' Abbott complains Biden won't let him murder migrants

On top of what everyone else has said, democracy in America has the problem of being badly tilted away from majority viewpoints by money and voter suppression and so on, to the point where it is barely democratic. The far right wouldn’t stand a chance otherwise. So even aside from the classism, no, you are putting all the blame on completely the wrong thing.

It’s a problem of too little democracy, not too much.

Which is of course why every effort to limit participation in government based on test scores has invariably been pro-racism/fascism, not pro-democracy.

There is a pro-democracy version of worrying that there are too many ignorant people too, though. It’s making everyone less ignorant through things like public education. And unlike all the fascist stuff it actually works very well, when you put the resources into it!

Related: Texas is actively preventing the U.S. Border Patrol from being able to access one of the key areas they’re supposed to be monitoring.

It is reasonable to infer that Abbott is trying to keep the Feds from getting wind of state-sanctioned anti-immigrant vigilantism.

Dammit. They keep asking the fascists nicely. If it’s the National Guard, the DOD can take over command and order them to stand down. If there are Texas state law enforcement involved, they can be arrested for interfering with a federal agency.

So they are already murdering people at the border, in other words… Fucking scum sucking assholes… Fucking cruel ghouls…

Or trying to hide their own trafficking operations.

Or—absolute best case scenario—trying to hamper the US Border Patrol from doing their jobs in order to make Biden look bad before the election. But my bet is one of the more sinister options.

Sufficient and necessary conditions for MAGAs and for Texas MAGAs to boot.

“If the president didn’t stop us, we would arbitrarily murder brown people in most of Texas,” is a hell of a thing to admit. (Because we’re not talking about people being shot “caught in the act,” climbing over a fence, we’re talking about anyone - i.e. brown people - in the United States, specifically in the border zone which is the area 100 air miles from the actual border, being shot for being suspected of having committed a crime that normally would get less than six months in jail/$250 fine, making it similar to low-level misdemeanors.)

Feels unfair to actual ghouls, somehow.

Gods, I wish. Under Bush (the lesser), they made it US law that they’d literally invade the Netherlands before they’d let any American stand trial there for crimes against humanity. It feels like a more general indicator of how the US sees human rights, the way the US historically would often oppose various international human rights agreements because it was afraid it would run afoul of them because of how it treated its own marginalized citizens…

If they were going to punish the opposition for actual crimes, it would be better for the administration to at least have that much arm’s length. Just sayin’.
