What I took from this was that man of the people Joe Manchin drives a Maserati.

This guy has been in a generational position of power. The current Senatorial delegation from WV consists of the daughter of the former governor (and convicted felon and former inmate) Arch Moore and the son of former Sec of State (and just as deserving of incarceration, even if he managed to avoid it) A. James Manchin. The only reason he gets re-elected in a state that has become maybe-an-inch-shy-of-fascist is because of who his daddy is. For WV, we will not do better. If he were not the candidate, someone far worse would get elected. We need to flip a couple seats elsewhere sl he no longer holds the power that he currently does.

And directly related to how many are legacies, living off name recognition due to lack of voter engagement. “Oh, I recognize that name. Guess I’ll vote for them!” Sigh. The other way is those who vote for the party only, because they think that it is required to be whatever social group they identify with. I am as guilty of this as anyone, though. I will vote for a Pile of Rancid Dingo Kidneys (D) , but with the motivation to stop the degradation of my country being perpetrated by the GQP. So I choose to think that is a more pure motivation.

As usual, incindiary headline doesn’t actually track to the details. Once again, a small handful of Dems, the usual suspects like Manchin and Sinema, are holding the party hostage.
Look, if you need to say you lowered local taxes for your constituents in order to win in 2022, do what your GQP opponents would do: lie. Meanwhile, get the infrastructure bill passed and get the voting rights bills passed or we’re all screwed.
