I’m not sure how to address this weird fact except to say “I have never worn a Hawaiian shirt in my life, ever.”
Or perhaps “is being campy considered stylish?”

I’m wearing one right now. If you’ll allow broccoli on a white background as an acceptable Hawaiian shirt pattern.
In my neck of the woods we call them “trustpunk” (i.e. kids who grew up with trust funds).
Nigel Kennedy grew up in a comfortably middle class family, but I get the impression that his punk persona is closer to who he is than when he has to perform in a suit.
I dunno, man. One of my biggest regrets of the ‘90s is how god-awfully authentic we expected artists, and by extension ourselves, to be (especially in and amongst the punks). I would have had a lot more fun if I’d embraced artifice a bit more. Next to Carson Daly, Jesse is way more fun and - act or not - that’s legitimately cooler.
