Hmm, it looks like you mistakenly ordered the Gripe 
(The Bripe thing has a separate metal filter to go inside, to cover the stem hole.)

My uncle was a big tobacco pipe smoker and I was a big pot in a bowl smoker.
The tobacco is packed tightly and the pipe had a smaller bore. Pot pipes were packed looser or maybe just drop in a couple tasty buds and a larger bore hence the need for a screen.
The screen wasn’t a filter like filter tip.
When I was a kid it was illegal to sell bowls or screens and even rolling papers were hard to come by. We would some times just use any screen we could get our hands on. A lot of times we smoked joints and then saved the roaches to fill a pipe or bong. Back then you tried not to waste anything.
This legal pot stuff is nice but it’s gonna take the nostalgia away when I finally decide to spark one up before I kick.
As far as sucking up grounds in that coffee pipe the guy in the video said his first hit was gritty because he forgot to blow bubbles first which must suspend the grounds or something so you don’t suck them up.
