It’s hard to find something to praise those people for, but seeing them wage war on GOP House and Senate races? Fully support them on that.
Sure. I won’t do things that aren’t in accordance with my ethical principles, and I will do things that will harm me personally if I see it as a moral necessity.
Example 1: In the late 1980s I cold-cocked a guy from behind because he was brutally beating his girlfriend in a parking lot. (She then attacked me, screaming, so I ran away).
Example 2: when the kid pulled the gun at the High School hockey game last summer, I was not the only person to go after him unarmed. I was the only one who walked, though, the other guys charged in at top speed.
I’m a danger to myself and others, because I have morals and ethics and I act on them. I don’t rely on uniformed thugs to do my dirty work for me.
I’d really like to know what Mike Pence is thinking right now.
We can but hope.
Edited to add: @simonize, i didn’t realize that i was semi-repeating you.
I am now even more confused at the logic here. That’s like saying breathing is murder because on rare occasions you inhale a mosquito.
Trump’s attacking McCain now.
After this election is over the insider accounts of the meltdowns will make for some really fun reading.
“Do I have enough money to retire quietly somewhere?”
“Should I get an unmarked grave so nobody will desecrate it?”
He’s already done that and no conservatives that are backing Trump cared, I think.
This really is a major split in the conservative camp, one that really goes back to things like Goldwater and Reagan.
AZ is a swing state Trump’s holding a really tenuous lead in. Going after AZ’s Senator less than four weeks out from the general really might not change things, given his base, but it’s still complete lunacy to even potentially alienate voters in a state he has to win.
True! I do think Trump thinks that the positive feedback he gets from his supporters is evidence of the rightness of his cause. He’s living in an echo chamber…
I personally think “exciting” is a terrible criteria for judging the suitability of a candidate. Trump may be the worst candidate in modern history but he isn’t BORING.
Again we are reminded of the dubious value of living in “interesting times.”
I really believe the remaining Trump supporters would gladly offer up their daughter’s pussies to Trump, while the rest of the Republicans would just offer up someone else’s daughters.
I think this is a big part of why he’s so self-defeating. He crows about his number of Twitter followers and rally sizes, and listens to those who praise him, but dismisses the opinions of the people who’ve run campaigns and hires amateurs for things that require a lot of very specialized skill - he hired a dingbat conspiracy theorist as his spox, and put his kids in critical campaign roles. He chose to ensure there’s no one near him who he trusts who has a clue, which makes sense since he can’t admit error, takes all criticism personally, and fires anyone who point out his mistakes.
“Shackles?”
What the in actual fuck…!!!
Only when they get tired of them.
I expect the GOP will have a bloody nose for a little while, but will recover quickly. Fox News won’t close, Brietbart and the rest will carry on, Clinton will be the Demogorgon-In-Chief, and in 2020 the GOP base will be foaming at the mouth for whoever the GOP primaries gags up if only to escape the horrors of tyranny under a moderate centrist Democrat, and unless Clinton does something unexpected she’s not likely to have a strong Dem. base.
It seems to me that you’ve said Republicans, conservatives, and defenders of rapey abusers are a single homogeneous class that has no ethical or moral values. That these people don’t care who they hurt due to this lack of ethics and morals.
I am saying I am not a raper or a defender of rapers, and I will only hurt people when my moral and ethical principles require me to do so. Such as, when someone is being assaulted. My personal safety does not figure prominently in such circumstances.
Since I am a registered Republican and self-identify as both liberal and conservative, it seems to me that your categorization is false, and I consider it an example of othering a group of people that happens to include me.
(Uhm, I’ve used the word “you” a couple of times not to specifically indicate you yourself, but rather the group of posts I was originally responding to.)
Fox News is still reeling under the Roger Ailes scandal. When it comes back under new leadership, it will be different than it was under Ailes. Different and I think weaker… and Breitbart will be stronger.
She is closer to what used to be called a moderate Republican, back when Republicans could be moderate. I’d call her a DINO, but she epitomizes the Democratic establishment so technically that’s not true. She’s a fake progressive but a true Democrat
No, that’s not what I said, at all. Not even close. Not in the same ballpark. You don’t normally mis-read that badly, so I’m wondering what there’s such a disconnect in this instance.
Oh. That explains what you were saying before. I could not understand how you equated being moral/ethical with harming people. Now I get it…thanks.
It would be odd for me to categorize all Republicans as anything, considering how often on this forum I have talked about the differences within the party, especially historically. I did, however, specify that all people I know personally who have in the past joked about committing similar sexual abuse and/or supported the men in their life for joking about it are currently (at least, as of a few days ago) Trump supporters.
The only way you fit in that group (presuming I were to know you personally) is if you have also openly joked about sexually abusing women. Have you? Then no, I’m not including you in that group. Why did you think I was?
