The end of an era: O.J. Simpson, Hertz's speedy messenger, dies at 76

(In the spirit of Mark’s original post…)

Yes, OJ Simpson did ads for Hertz car rental’s fast pick up (cuz he ran fast- get it?) but even more memorable was his role as a Tree Sweet brand orange juice spokesman (“O.J.”- get it?). That clever tie-in is really what we’ll all remember him for. Well, besides playing football.

I know someone that knew him pretty well for a lot of years. Spent a lot of time at his house when they were growing up. She’s pretty convinced that his son did it, and he covered for him.

Even the defense basically conceded that OJ beat his wife on multiple occasions. In retrospect I can see why some people celebrated the acquittal as a referendum on the racist corruption of the LAPD, but as for those who genuinely believe he was innocent? Nah, man. That’s just denial pure and simple.

This is interesting. Everyone was required to sign an NDA and both kids from Nicole were present.

Is it possible he really did cover for his son Jason?

This guy says yes.

This doesn’t sound right.

Simpson’s executor has now told the Review-Journal that there was never a court order forcing Simpson to pay the civil judgment
