Also…WTF is he going on about with locations? Elliott’s first movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid filmed in Mexico as a stand-in for Bolivia, and Century Ranch for the river jump scene.
I’m sure there’s lots more, but come on. This is common practice in Hollywood.

He was a political force here in Illinois. Pretty much the de facto governor for the past 30 years or so. Any legislation had to meet his approval. Pay to play was well known for many years. I’m surprised that he was ever charged with anything though.

The one thing I will say about Illinois politics is that we do send a lot of our politicians to prison. I’m not saying it’s a more corrupt state than others…the exact opposite, in fact: we still have enough public servants who will do the right thing, eventually, when all other avenues have been explored.

Governor Pritzker was a political outsider, and a billionaire, and was able to avoid association with Madigan who was starting to feel the heat.
But just about every other democratic politician who ran for election over the past 10 years has been painted as a Madigan crony by the republicans (and many were). It was the go-to battle cry in every election. Receiving Madigan’s endorsement was usually essential to get on the ballot.
This was one of the factors that allowed the previous Governor Rauner (R) to get elected, coming on the heels of a weak Governor Quinn who had assumed power after the previous Governor was jailed for selling Obama’s senate seat.
