what i don’t find is what the out-of-state gentleman was armed with. i mean, if it was a gun! he was within his 2A rights, right. and isn’t an assassinated sc justice just part of the price we pay for our absolute right to bear arms (especially to overthrow tyrannical gubbmint)?

Officials said the man had called 911, and said during the call that he had homicidal thoughts, had traveled from California to attack the justice, and had a gun in his suitcase. He said the gun was unloaded and in a locked case. Officials said the man is from Simi Valley.

More bigotry from Christo-fascists, though their plan might backfire.
“Hide the Pride” is horrifying in phrasing alone, but it is also somewhat poorly thought out. Letter or no letter, checking out a large number of LGBTQ+ books may make it appear that there is high demand (especially to a computer), leading libraries to increase their stock with more of the same. Additionally, the purpose of a display is to feature books and have them checked out more rapidly—they are designed to be regularly replenished.

Good, as far as it goes, but this is just another example of how religion is used to justify and enable treating people as items rather than as human beings. The Catholic Church, the Southern Baptists and many smaller cases have repeated this pattern over and over. The problem is not, IMHO, “religion,” but the strict, almost always patriarchal, authoritarian power structure to be found in these institutions. Any place that shows this pattern is probably guilty of the same, or similar, offenses. Looking at you, GQP. Looking right at you.

Too true. While working on this response to an article about the Amish, the examples I found made it very clear that is why the abuse has continued for so long. Now it is spreading into other aspects of their community.

Winston, also known as Winchester Hagans, lost his fiancé, Hannah Ford, in a car crash in January 2021. She died one month after Hagans proposed.
Hagans says Hannah did not like cutting flowers from a florist. She preferred living flowers.
Hagans hand-made a flower box with real flowers and pictures of them together to be left on her grave at Auburn’s Memorial Park Cemetery.
That didn’t go over well with Hannah’s father, Dr. Tom Ford, who signed a warrant against Hagans and ultimately got him arrested for littering.
The quote on quote “good” pastor apparently abused her as a kid and he was a big backer of Roy Moore.
