The Gallery of Just Plain Assholes (Part 2)

If detransitioning was right for you - your transition was a success. You learned where you needed to be. Which is the goal.

And if anything the lesson to be taken is that the conversation, evaluations, and support for people who are questioning themselves and their identities can and should be improved. Hitting the breaks on it is not progress or productive.

Even more so is improving support for those who have recently transitioned and are struggling emotionally and socially with living as themselves. For the large majority of detransitioners, it’s not that they don’t want to live as that gender, it’s that they can’t deal with the emotional and social blowback. Friends and family who reject them, coworkers who are suddenly weird around them, finally deciding that life in the closet is better (or safer) than openly living as themselves. I find that incredibly sad. Not that our youngest has had a completely easy time, but a supportive family and viciously supportive parents and (most) family make a huge amount of difference. I am also a big proponent of “family of choice” for those who cannot get the support they need from their bio family. Anyway, as a cis, straight, white guy I have probably already said too much about this. But it hits really close to home.

You’re spot on.

Coming out meant I lost a lot of friends, most of my extended family, my wife (though I got a new one who understands me better), a lot of opportunities (callback for interviews dropped from 80% to under 20%), professional respect (I was just lamenting to my coworker how I get asked about to other people a lot more, whereas I used to get asked directly) and a whole lot more. I can understand why some people can’t deal with that and detransition. I literally cannot go back.

That said, I have a very active social life I never had before, I have more energy for living, and I have a ton of friends who go out of their way to help and I would do almost anything for.

ERWIN, Tenn. (WVLT) - A plastics factory in Unicoi County is under fire after some employees were trapped and killed there during flooding brought by Hurricane Helene.

One Impact Plastic’s employees — Jacob Ingram — said lives could have been saved, had employees been allowed to leave the facility sooner.

“I didn’t hear anyone say ‘leave’ or nothing like that. I actually asked one of the higher ups,” Ingram said. “They told me ‘no, not yet.’ They have to ask someone before we was able to leave, even though it was already above the doors and the cars and everything else.”

Ingram said he was swept away by floodwaters Friday, having to clamber on top of a semi-truck to get to higher ground. That’s when he was rescued by a helicopter.

Scientologist doctor

Putting those two words together should never, ever happen. Their denial of psychological diagnoses makes them ineffective in caring for most primary care patients.

That’s on par with having a 21st Century doctor who doesn’t believe in Germ Theory.

I kind of want to see a Native American get told this and go “I’ll do you one better and go back to where all my ancestors came from
” walk out the door, then come straight back in. “Okay. Done, I’m back where I came from. Your turn
”

Wow. This guy has also called his own district a cesspool of liberalism, threatened to call police if constituents tried to visit his office again, and after yelling at another constituent and calling them a “liberal nuttard” because they criticized his performance in office, had a cop comment, “That’s exactly why he’s not gonna” (I expect the end of the sentence was “get reelected” but the video cuts out).

He did lose the following election, but somehow got back into office in 2022. So we probably have a couple more years of hateful rhetoric from this particular asshole. Some people seem to live their lives like it’s a competition for how many people will dance on their graves once they are gone.

I don’t undetstand anybody who knows anything about metalheads thinking that asshole would be a draw. I am certain there are racists and fascists in among us, but overall, IMHO, we are a hell of a lot more “mind your own fucking business” than the general public. Wow
