I get the feeling these guys want the flag back to âown the libs,â but it seems like even this guy who fought for the right to literally own people would tell them to pound sand.
The confederate state of Virginia no longer exists and is a legal nullity. The US state of Virginia has no standing to make any claims for it. 
Very much in the tradition of Benjamin Butler, who refused to return escaped slaves to Virginia on the grounds that they claimed to be outside of US law.
