Someone else mentioned that the “female” symbol is on its side, like it’s being unwillingly dragged along for the ride. Which, given the sort of people putting this thing together, seems entirely apt. (I also can’t help but note that the “male” symbol is conspicuously on top, rather than having them be co-equal on the same level with the distinguishing elements sticking up/down. Again, apt.)
