The fact that Gorka and his band of merry Nazis are ignorant of history and simple facts is not anything new. If they were otherwise, it would be very hard pressed to maintain their assholery. The thing for me is how many not evil just ignorant people are led along by these assholes and wind up just as nazi without understanding how they got there.

I’m not sure they’re all that ignorant. A lot of them went to top universities and live in big alpha-tier cities, which means they’re surrounded by diversity and have at least a high school graduate’s knowledge of history. All they care about is being on top in the fascist regime they’re trying to bring about. That’s one of the things that makes them arseholes.

That’s more accurate. Or perhaps for some of them “selectively ignorant”, because the wealthier ones and those who aspire to an image of sophistication spend a lot of time socialising with the “right kind” of Jewish people, LGBTQ people, Muslims, and (less frequently – this is telling) PoC. Then they turn right around and spread their vile, hatemongering memes for the benefit of the rubes.
