Well, I donā€™t doubt that his experience with a contagious disease that has lifelong aftereffects made a mark. But being reasonable on this one issue (and a weaselly reasonable at that) does not erase anything else. Itā€™s not a sign the Republican party is turning against Trump.

Honestly, polio is a better comparison than the flu for COVID-19. Passed around easily by kids, but more fatal in adults (hence why survivors tend to be those who caught it as children) with potential lifelong disabilities even if you make it out the other side.

But thanks to vaccinations, most of us these days donā€™t remember polio. Even those who are old enough to (like Trump) may have escaped infection.

But to me, Mitch is scarier than Trump. Trump went for what he thought was the golden ring. Mitch skipped the carousel ride and weaseled his way into the control booth and is smart enough to leave the shiny distractions to the buffoons while he actually runs the ride.
