This really hit me. I’m catching up on this thread, reading 17 days after you posted it, and the number is almost 14,000 higher by now.
There was a depressing article in my paper this weekend asking, “What if we look back on 2020 as the good old days?” It was pointing out that hoarding beans and toilet paper might seem quaint when climate change causes massive food shortages and climate refugees.
Seeing these numbers makes that seem like a very real possibility

Unoriginal, and unimaginative. (I wish it included the original insult that leads to this scene, but for those of you who don’t know, a guy at the bar call’s him “Big Nose” and he’s appalled that, given this gift of a nose, that was the best insult he could come up with.)
