This really hit me. I’m catching up on this thread, reading 17 days after you posted it, and the number is almost 14,000 higher by now.
There was a depressing article in my paper this weekend asking, “What if we look back on 2020 as the good old days?” It was pointing out that hoarding beans and toilet paper might seem quaint when climate change causes massive food shortages and climate refugees.
Seeing these numbers makes that seem like a very real possibility
I can’t decide if it’s the fanny pack or the running sandals that make that outfit really come together…
“ On topic, The New Yorker (from June 22) reports that former Trump employees/grifters will say Happy Birthday to your grandpa for money:
When Cameo launched, in 2017, it trafficked in videos of C-listers such as Tony Hawk doing a “gender reveal” for a baby (price: two hundred dollars) or Caitlyn Jenner saying happy birthday (twenty-five hundred dollars). In recent months, the ex-Trump officials have come pouring in. Anthony Scaramucci used to be Trump’s mouthpiece, but he has extended his reach, offering himself as a spokesperson to anyone who can pay. On Cameo, he holds a pillow that says “mooch” and bellows, “I’ll talk about anything, as you guys know. So look me up, dial me in, and tell me what you want me to say to you!” He concludes with a loud kissing noise and promises to respond within three days. (Sebastian Gorka, Trump’s former deputy assistant, guarantees a same-day response.) Roger Stone, Trump’s longtime adviser, whose incarceration has been deferred, has started making Cameos for seventy-five dollars apiece—a quarantine pastime until he’s due in prison, later this month. The former press secretary Sean Spicer is on the app, too. “It’s like the Uber of fan mail,” he said. “People are paying for what they want.”
Poor Caitlyn - so desperate for attention, so lacking in moral fiber - so damn stupid.
Caitlyn Jenner Says Trump Has Been ‘Worst Ever’ For Transgender Rights, ‘Set Our Community Back 20 Years’
How much money would it take to get Sebastian Gorka to say “Black lives matter” on TV
I’m in for a few bucks.
That’s not what your mother said. If you know what I mean - wink wink nudge nudge.
The latest example of their not hiding it anymore. Ossoff’s comeback is a good burn, though.
I guess we know where his covid check went.
If he manages to recover, I wonder if he’ll still say that masks are a joke.
Unoriginal, and unimaginative. (I wish it included the original insult that leads to this scene, but for those of you who don’t know, a guy at the bar call’s him “Big Nose” and he’s appalled that, given this gift of a nose, that was the best insult he could come up with.)
That’s my favorite scene in Roxanne.
“Did he fall yet?”
ETA:
And my gift to you; the entire scene, starting with the insult:
My second favorite Steve Martin movie, after Parenthood.
It’s mine after LA Story.
I already used up my like - so
Backing out in part because they’re not allowed to tear gas people.
That or trying to “retaliate.”
Mine, too! (It’s spot on. )
